Laser Skin Treatments | Laser Hair Removal | Acne TreatmentsAs technology advances, more and more patients are seeking laser procedures to eliminate the unwanted effects of aging and sun damage as well as a permanent solution for hair removal. Laser treatments are safe, effective procedures that require little to no downtime and allow patients to easily achieve their desired results.

IPL Photofacial

As we age, our skin exhibits damage from the sun and the wear-and-tear of daily life. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photofacials can diminish age spots, brown spots, visible blood vessels, and redness, while improving skin tone. The laser leaves the upper layers of skin intact so you can resume your daily routine with minimal interruption. Usually 4-6 treatment sessions, each lasting about 20 minutes are needed to gradually improve the texture and tone of your skin. Treatments are tailored to your skin type and condition.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser Skin Treatments | Laser Hair Removal | Acne TreatmentsRemoving unwanted body hair is a constantly troubling process for many men and women. Patients who are tired of the temporary, painful methods of removing hair from the face, back, legs or other body areas may benefit from laser hair removal. This minimally invasive procedure removes hair through a series of treatments while leaving the surrounding skin and tissue unharmed. Through this safe and convenient procedure, patients can enjoy long-term hair removal from nearly any area of their body.

Photodynamic Therapy

Photodynamic therapy is a state of the art treatment for actinic keratoses (so-called "pre-cancerous" spots), that can also be used to treat sun damage and acne. It is 60-70% more effective than IPL alone in treating broken blood vessels, brown spots, and improving pore size.

During a session of photodynamic therapy, a photosensitizing chemical called Levulan is applied to the skin 60-90 minutes prior to treatment with the IPL. For actinic keratoses, the chemical is taken up by the atypical cells, and when it is activated by the IPL, the pre-cancerous cells are destroyed. There is a nice cosmetic benefit as well -- the treatment improves those sun spots and broken blood vessels that are also caused by too much sun exposure over the years. This treatment may be used even if you do not have actinic keratoses -- studies have shown that it accelerates the results of IPL photofacials, resulting in the need for fewer treatments.

Photodynamic therapy is an exciting new addition to standard acne treatments. The treatment both kills the P. acnes bacteria in the pores that are involved in the development of pimples and cysts, and inhibits sebaceous gland activity. In conjunction with a skin care program of products selected for your individual needs, photodynamic therapy can be a useful addition to acne treatments. Treatments are administered every other week, and a series of 4-5 treatments is recommended for optimal results.
